Non-Local Enrolment Application:

Following the general principles outlined in the DEC Procedures for Secondary School Enrolment Transition from Year 6, 2013 to Year 7, 2014 all children are entitled to seek to be enrolled at the local secondary school that is the designated  intake area within which the childs’ home is situated and that the child is eligible to attend. The Education Act 1990 Section 21B states that all children must attend school between the ages of six and the minimum school leaving age. Students seeking to enrol should have an application to enrol in a NSW Government School completed on their behalf. Parents/Carers only have priority in their local school. At Ku-ring-gai Creative Arts High School the primary criteria for acceptance of non-local enrolments (as specified in DEC Procedures for Secondary School Enrolment) will include the availability of appropriate staff and permanent classroom accommodation.

The following criteria have been established for non-local students wishing to enrol at Ku-ring-gai Creative Arts High School. Students:

  • Must be able to demonstrate commitment to learning.
  • Must have a satisfactory record of school participation and conduct.
  • May demonstrate a high level of ability, achievement and commitment in the creative arts (e.g.  dance, visual arts, music drama) or other areas of creativity including design ( e.g. graphics, animation, technology). Students should support their application with a portfolio outlining their creative arts achievements.

Creative Arts applicants will be interviewed and or auditioned by the selection panel.

Other considerations include success in applying for the enrichment class, school structure and organisation, siblings already enrolled at the school, compassionate/special circumstances, access to co-educational school, proximity and access to the school, and the availability and combination of subjects.

The placement Panel will consist of the Principal, a staff member (where possible the relevant Year Adviser) a member of the P&C to consider and make recommendations on all non-local enrolment applications. Decisions made by the placement panel will be provided in writing to the parents/carers. Parents/carers have the right to appeal and can do so in writing to the Principal. A waiting list will be established for students who are unsuccessful in the first instance and this waiting list will remain valid for one year.

Fees and Contributions:

Fees and contributions are charged at the beginning of each year and vary from year to year. Please contact the School Administration Manager for more details.
