The Careers Adviser at Kuring gai Creative Arts High School is Mr. Harrisson. He is located in the office under the stairs in Lincoln Block. His role is to provide students with access to a range of career resources, activities and experiences that enable students to maximise their career development. The Careers Office has a large range of resources and material that may be used there or in some cases made available for short term loan. There are numerous videos, DVDs and CD Roms on a variety of vocational planning and preparation topics. KCAHS students are also given access to the career website of Career Central. Printed information on universities, TAFE colleges, private course providers, specific vocational areas, gap year activities and much more are available. Students are able to participate in periods of Work Experience, attend Career Markets, vocational visits and attend guest lectures, both at school and elsewhere. Students are encouraged to participate in school Work Experience Programs. Students in Year 10 are given the opportunity to participate in a one-week block of work experience in November each year. Students are also able to participate in other periods of work experience in Years 10, 11 and 12, when negotiated with the Career Adviser, Year Adviser and Senior Executive.Students are encouraged to seek casual and part-time employment to gain experience and build their confidence. |

TAFE-delivered Vocational Education course (TVET) may be undertaken as part of the Preliminary and HSC programs.TVET courses provide an opportunity for a head start in a career. These courses provide dual accreditation from the NSW Board of Studies and TAFE NSW. TVET programs enable the student to study and use state of the art facilities at TAFE colleges. Courses cover a wide range from Accounting, Animation, Automotive, Aviation, Baking, Boating, Business, CAD, Computer Hardware Services, Child Care, Construction, Design, Event Management, Electro-technology, Fine Arts, Film and TV, Fitness, Hairdressing, Hospitality (Commercial Cook, Waiter, Accommodation Services), Information Technology, marine, Marketing, Media (Journalism, Performance), Multimedia, Nursing, Photography, Plumbing, Primary Industries (Horticulture, Conservation), Printing, Property Services (Real Estate), Sport and Recreation, Tourism, Web Design and more. |
